This is the correct way of looking at this debatable argument as it is much more accurate when measuring ROI than to measure which works best Let's say for example you run a PPC campaign and get 200 clicks at $1 00 per click That will be a total cost of $200 for the PPC campaign With a 2% conversion rate on the site that would work out to 4 sales Now let's say we run a SEO campaign on the same budget For argument sake we will say that it will cost you $1000 to get a fully optimized website setup for you

Now when it comes to SEO time is the biggest factor as it can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 years top get listed in the search engines However for this example let us say that you get listed within 2 weeks Now this will be measured over a 12 month time frame The PPC campaign is a monthly cost so it works out to $200 x 12 months = $2400 per year You make 4 sales per month so 4 x 12 = 48 sales per year Lets say your product makes you $50 per sale This will equal 48 x $50 = $2400 per year Your ROI is then 0% as you did not lose money or gain a profit

The 2 major Search Engine marketing strategies that exist today are SEO (search engine optimization) and PPC (pay-per-click) You should know and understand that these two methods are very different from one another This will help you to be better enabled to decide which one is right for you and your web site Of course, part of this decision will depend upon what your web site is like
