Growing herbs in pots can be the best most rewarding thing in life,and all done at home.Imagine growing your own herbs,walking on your patio and cut off which herbs you require for the meal that night.Some times to start growing herbs is not easy,however after a few times it gets really easy.The tips I am about to give you will make growing herbs really easy.
My first herb to start with would be mint.Mint is one of the most rapidly growing herbs of them all. Always be careful with mint as it grows rapidly and grown in big pots can get out of control and grow everywhere.Growing mint will make you feel you have green fingers.Always keep it under control.
Growing Basil in pots is really the best option as all sorts of pest love to munch on the leaves.My option is to get basil that has been started in a nursery as seems better than from seeds,reason being it is already some what firm and hardy in growth which helps stopping the bugs eating it.In pots basil needs some shade as can wilt in direct sunlight.Watering this great herb is very important.
Basil is the opposite to Cilantro,as I always plant from seed,because not many nursery's keep a plant as once the condition of environment change and change of lighting it tends to shoot right away.When grown from seed and kept in the same area tends to grow slower.Always cut the flowers if it starts to get out of control,and then of course cut the complete bunch off and eat it in salads or stir fries.Cilantro loves late afternoon sun.
Rosemary and sage in my view love a sunny position, a sunny balcony or window spot will do really well.The perfume aroma growing these herbs indoors in pots will make comments from your friends and house guests.Try some stir fry dishes with both of these herbs.Try some stir fry dishes with both of these herbs
The first time you start to have a herb garden good results will happen as long as you take the time to water and care for them.They do not really like direct sunlight.Each season they will perform better as long as you take care of them with again correct watering
