Since eBay banned the sale of digital products in their auctions, many marketers have abandoned eBay as a source of income. Other factors to this abandoning of eBay include some policy and fee changes which were heavily opposed. However, those willing to stick with eBay are finding that it is still quite possible to make money on eBay.
For instance, while it is no longer allowed to sell digital products on eBay, smart sellers found a way around it. What they did was to put one or more digital products on a CD or DVD and physically ship it out to customers. Doing so meant that not only could they continue to sell the products that they wanted to, but also that they could sell them for more, on the basis that physical products are perceived to be of greater value than digital ones.
To save time from having to package, label, and ship every CD or DVD you sell, the best thing to do is to use a fulfillment company. Basically, you provide them with a stock of raw materials and the customers details, as they come in at a later date, and they take care of the rest for a flat fee. For each disc that you sell, you could easily make a few dollars in profit.
If you want to get creative, you could add bonuses or upsells onto the disc that your customers are getting. Just think how much more a trust a customer will have in you when they receive their purchase and find that you have included a previously unannounced bonus with it. They will then be much more likely to follow the links through to your website or squeeze page that you have included and will likely to turn into a long term buying customer.
Another way of making money on eBay is to enter the dropshipping business. It works like affiliate marketing in that rather than selling products that you physically stock, you instead sell products that belong to someone else. Having decided upon which of the many dropshipping companies to use, the rest of the process is easy to follow through. You simply list one of the dropshipper's products on eBay and, when it sells, submit an order to the dropshipper for that product, providing them with the customers details as you do so.
Using the dropshipping method of making money on eBay, you can sell virtually anything. You'll find companies that sell small items like cell phone accessories, all the way up to large items such as pool tables. Since you are paid a cut of each sale, selling larger items would give you a larger profit margin. However, smaller items are more in demand, so you will probably sell more of them.
