Effective backlink strategies will get your website higher search engine ranking. Google is probably the most well known search engine. You can be on the first page of search results on Google by paying a high pay per click price on the right hand of the page or you can work to be ranked high on the organic search listings.
On the left hand side of the search engine page is the organic listings. These listings are free. The objective is to get listed on the first page. But as you can guess there is a lot of competition to get on the first page. One way Google determines which websites get the coveted first page ranking is based on the number of back links a website has. That is links from other websites linking to your website. Google also looks at the content on your website and the keyword distribution related to the content on your website. But let us concentrate on back links for now.
Your job as website owner is to get other websites to ad your link to your website on their website. One simple way is to find a website which is related to your website but is not in direct competition.
If you are selling daily planners and accessories you can have information on how to save money on your tax return. You can then place a link on your website to a website about tax preparation. Then contact the owner of that tax website and let him or her know you have placed a backlink on your website and if he or she would place a backlink on her site to your website.
Tax preparation calls for keeping records and you might have products for record keeping on your daily planning website. You can even offer the tax website owner an article on effective record keeping. Include your link in your article. Now the tax website owner has new content on his website and you have another back link.
You have to be careful however that you are not trying to sell with your website link. If you try to make your website service or product the answer to questions people have on Yahoo your answer will be removed by their editing team. But if you can legitimately answer a question with helpful advice there is nothing wrong with sharing your website link where people can click for more helpful information.
And of course submitting articles to an online article directory is a good way to build backlinks. Remember to include your website link on your article. When people place your article on there websites you will have backlinks.
Google however will penalize you if you build your back links too quickly. So effective backlink strategies should take about four to six months to build. But use your imagination to find ways to back links building that others have yet to consider and you will make your way up the organic search engine rankings.
