The first and most important factor to consider in choosing a good business opportunity is the track record of the offer. How long has it been around? Are the owners of the offer reputable in the business world? Does the opportunity offer potential for making lots of money? Is the market for the products and services wide enough or is it over saturated and the competition too big? Are there valid testimonials of success? Sometimes a new opportunity might be best, but research and find out as much about them before becoming affiliated.
You see it all the time, "get rich quick" and other related terms. This brings me to the point that you need to investigate the compensation plan and all the costs involved to get started. Some opportunities cost thousands to get into and may take a few years to even get to break even, whilst other opportunities might cost a couple hundred which you may recoup with a few retail sales, or a couple of new distributor signups. This is key to find out for short term cash flow, but then you also need to investigate the prospect for long term growth with residual income, bonuses, and even a profit share with the parent company once you reach the higher ranks. This will either make or break your future growth potential.
Being your own boss has advantages as well as risks that need to be considered. Make sure you examine the learning curve and time/money needed for both starting and running your business. Many opportunities say that everything is set-up for you and the system works on autopilot. This may be true, but usually is not! Every business requires work and whether you are selling products or services online, sales and marketing efforts take considerable time. Even the very best auto-responder systems require time to be most effective in delivering the right and timely messages to your potential customers. Is there a niche market for this online business? It takes time and money to build rapport and acceptance within each market as well as building a mailing list, the bread and butter of all online businesses.
When weighing up your business opportunity, be honest with yourself. The worst thing you can do is talk it up and make it seem like a walk in the park, when you will actually need to work hard at it for a while before things start flourishing. Learn to have fun, learn to learn more and continually educate yourself and your team, and only commit to your business opportunity if you are truly committed right to the very end. Success is in your hands!
Are you willing to step out of the boat and walk on the water? Do you know what hard work is all about? Have you got a strong character? Do you have successful work habits? Are you persistent?
As mentioned, take your time and do your due diligence on any business opportunity that might come your way. For example, I know myself that herbal coffee is booming right now because it is awesome, exclusive, is easy to retail, is easy to enroll distributors, and does a great service to men and women worldwide in the love department.
