The WoW Warrior is mostly known for his tanking abilities in raids and dungeons. Warriors are also in high demand because of this and if they spec protection, they will certainly have very little difficulty finding groups and raids at any level.
One thing that makes a WoW warrior particularly unique from any other class is that they use a system called rage. Rage is built up as the warrior fights and this can then be spent on a number of special abilities depending on how you spec.
The other two specifications allowed for warriors are arms and fury which are both optimized for DPS. Choosing one of these talent trees can make the warrior a powerful killing machine and coupled with plate armor, warriors can be amongst the strongest classes available. Arms/fury hybrid specifications are especially popular for leveling and optimized DPS.
Now, by far the most in demand specification is protection. The full protection warrior makes the perfect tank and he's always extremely popular. By the time you reach the maximum level, a warrior can have more hit points and more armor of than just about any other class in the game, making them extremely strong if the protection spec.
Warriors also have the advantage of being able to wear any kind of armor available in the game and they can also wield all the weapons available except for wands. You can also choose talents which allow you to dual wield effectively so you can play a bit more like a rogue. However, warriors are perhaps most effective when it comes to damage per second using a two handed weapon.
If you are thinking of choosing a WoW warrior, then make sure that you are comfortable with tanking is this is generally what you will be expected to do once you reach the maximum level.
